I'm not a poet, but this is inspired by this.

NO

Yes, I'm fat....
But no, you will not shame me.
No, you will not make me hide
nor will you take away my pride of self.
Yes, you can cat-call me but I will not
allow you to make me run away. I will walk
tall and proud through life no matter what
you do. My NO shows that my life
has meaning, shows that I deserve respect,
shows that I deserve the dignity
that all humankind deserves. My NO
demands that respect and dignity, and I will have it.
My NO is adamant!

  1. This is wonderful. How someone could find anything to criticize about this defies the imagination. Last time I checked Love thy neighbor and love thyself were tenets most people could buy into. Thank you!

  2. Deah, So far, everyone who's read it has liked it, which thrills me no end as this is my first attempt at writing poetry (I never even wrote any in my high school English classes; for some reason, we weren't assigned that type of writing).
